How Free is the Society?
Written By: Destiny Defect

Society of Lost Freedom was created June 17, 2007 by Gothic Goddess Aka Deranged Defect. The sole purpose for the forum was to break barriers between the world and allow everyone to freely open up with each other despite religion, geography, culture, beliefs, sexual preference , gender, and so on. It is only recently that the main administrator, Deranged Defect, has questioned how much their Society can really be Free!

"It wasn't until a member deleted their account, that I had begun to worry," say Deranged Defect. "It seems as if her views opposed or were so different from the entire forum and she just quit. I was hoping in our Society everyone would not only get to state their views on things but also learn from others to make their own conclusion. Was I asking to much of humanity?" It may seem so for Society of Lost Freedom when classified is generally just an average general forum, with rules and regulations like any other. If one person has deleted their account because of they were having trouble either accepting others views or being told different, where will that lead Society of Lost Freedom?

"Even if it is just me posting every single day by myself, Society of Lost freedom will never close down!" Hopefully that remains true for the forum has been going through a tough time with pro board codes and spreading the message around. Society of Lost Freedom, says they are still heading and remaining with there goal to spread throughout the world. How far can that goal take them? How long will the forum last? Sound Off in the reflections board, for your editorial to be placed in the 3rd Newsletter.

First thing is first, we must be able to say a greeting and our name!

Ciao. Mi Chiamo ______________

Ciao!= Is an informal way of saying hello, and will often be used between friends and is never to be used for adults. To pronounce Ciao! You would say the English word "Chow."

Mi Chiamo=Means "My Name is...." To pronounce this you would say me key-ah-mo or che-ah-mo (proper).

Xie Taiyo Tao has Passed On
Written By: Destiny Defect

I am sad to announce that our beloved Xie Taiyo Tao AKA Maxine has passed away recently due to failure of her lungs. I, on behalf of the entire of Society of Lost Freedom, would like to say thank you, Xie. Thank you for all the smiles you have brought the our faces and tears from our face when we would laugh out your jokes. Thank you for including us as apart of your family and allowing yourself to open up and talk with everyone on the forum. Most of all, thank you Xie, personally for opening up my eyes to something I thought would never before me, abuse, death, anger, confuse and yet all in all a smile. A smile you still carried without me noticing a hint of difference.

"To fly free you must leave everything behind. Even if it means whats dear to your heart. Sorry..." -Anonymous

Xie, Max or Maxine, thank you so much for everything. We wish you eternal and ever lasting peace where ever you are! We Love You! To give your regards to Maxine and her family please visit her board by Clicking Here Thank you Yasuri for staying with her until the end creating a memorial!

The Month Long Maintenance Mode
Written By: Destiny Defect

Why did the major maintenance mode take so long to complete? It seems to have little affect due to the many errors now, so what was the month maintenance mode really worth? Deranged Defect says no. "It took much longer than it should have and everything intended wasn't fully successfully soon after or was never completed to begin with." When asked about her thought on how it affect the members, she had this to say: "I am sure it probably was getting on the members nerves, because the maintenance mode was certainly getting on mine. I know I lost many potential members and ever current members who probably still think the site was abandoned or still on maintenance mode. That Bothers me!" There are many things completed during the month despite the main drawbacks from it! The first Version of the forums, theater was released soon after maintenance mode, the affiliation was quickly cleaned up and new categories and boards was in the mix. Even so the beginning of the end of maintenance mode wasn't so pleasant. It toke almost a week before Deranged herself, went to post a message on her forum. "I feared it was going to be inactive so I started to panic!"

Recently she has eliminated the DAMORS system, popular among some communities she has sent it too. Not only that but two major reconstructions of switching to a money system and a shop system has cam crashing as well. Once again, where does this leave the Society of Lost Freedom? "I am going to leave it as it is, sometimes you just have to work with whats in front of you before there can be improvement anywhere else." I certainly cannot help wait to see whats in store for this forum, since skins are to be updated, due to a code failure, affiliate rebuilt and post coming more continuously. Only time will tell but like she has said before, Society of Lost Freedom is here for Good!

August/September Member of the Month!
Written By: Destiny Defect

I would like to congratulate Lord Konrad Chaos for becoming August 2007 member of the month. Although majority of August was dedicated to the month maintenance mode, he could be seen lurking about on the forum waiting for the forum to open up. Lord Konrad is only one of two people who have registered to become part of our newsletter staff and he has entered in numerous contest on the forum, to show his support!

If that wasn't enough reason to place him as member of month then consider his heated discussion with former member simplykaterine. Nothing is negatively said towards the other person and he keeps everything in boundaries and represents what the Society of Lost Freedom community is about, acknowledging others ideas and opinions even if you don't agree. He is what have inspired Deranged Defect to write the story behind the maintenance mode and the question: "How free is the Society of lost freedom?" Congratulations for becoming the member of the month and keep it up!

Our latest New Staff Members
Written By: Destiny Defect

I would like to congratulate Black Rose on becoming an Administrator to the forum. She has prove numerous times that being active and discussing your ideas gets you in a great spot. Deranged Defect has choose her to be the third, and most likely finally Administrator because her dedication and will to adjust to any give situation. Black Rose in the last news letter was member of the moment, it is amazing how much she has went up and stepped it up a notch. So Congratulations Black Rose, and I hope you have fun with your new found position!

Although we still have some bad news to report! Ramirez is no longer a global moderator due to his lack of activity, however he and others can always have a chance at the position for future references. "We are not looking for staff for the main forum at this time. We are mainly focused on getting what the forum is now, back together than slowly progress from there. Please do not ask for a position." says Deranged Defect. Congrats Black rose and sorry to Ramirez.

Apocalyptica - Amplified // A Decade of Reinventing the Cello (2006) Disc 1 Track list:
  1. 1. Enter Sandman
  2. 2. Harmageddon
  3. 3. Nothing Else Matters
  4. 4. Refuse/Resist
  5. 5. Somewhere Around Nothing
  6. 6. Betrayal
  7. 7. Farewell
  8. 8. Master of Puppets
  9. 9. Hall of the Mountain King
  10. 10. One
  11. 11. Heat
  12. 12. Cohkka
  13. 13. Kaamos
  14. 14. Deathzone
  15. 15. Angel of Death
At a glance, this disc appears to just be a cover album. But this is really not so. Admittedly, around a third of it are Metallica covers, but coming from a 'Greatest Hits' album, considering that Apocalyptica's first album was just that, a Metallica cover album. While some covers here are not the best cover to date (Enter Sandman and Master of Puppets just don't seem to work), but covers like One and Angel of Death are astounding. This first disc is Instrumental, and the way that they play a Cello at a higher pitch to replace the vocals just works, especially on One. It turns an already amazing and memorable song into something beautiful.

But as I said, this isn't just a cover album. Original songs like Hall of the Mountain King, and Betrayal just stick in your mind. Some songs are just plain beautiful, and imagining them live sends shills down spines. Once you hear Farewell, it's hard to imagine that Apocalyptica have got a Slayer cover just down the line. This band is just so original in what they do, most of this disc don't even feature drums yet, as Mikko Sirén wasn't hired until after the first few albums.
Disc 2 Track list:
  1. 1. Repressed
  2. 2. Path, Vol. 2
  3. 3. Bittersweet
  4. 4. Hope, Vol. 2
  5. 5. En Vie
  6. 6. Faraway Vol. 2
  7. 7. Life Burns
  8. 8. Seeman
This disc features vocals, unlike the first. And since Apocalyptica doesn't have any vocalists, bring on the guests! Apocalyptica have worked with what seems like a 'Who's Who of Mainstream Metal' to me. Which isn't a bad thing. On this disc, they play with Max Calavera (Soulfly), Matt Tuck (Bullet for my Valentine), Sandra Nasic (Guano Apes), Ville Valo (HIM), Lauri Ylonen (The Rasmus), Emmanuellt Monet (Dolly), Linda Sunblad (ex-Lambretta) and Nina Hagen. That's just for this 'Greatest Hits'. The music itself sounds much more like a band on this disc. It's harder to tell that they play Cellos, not Guitars, or even Violins. Plus the amazing vocal work on some of these songs. You never forget Bittersweet, with Ville Valo and Lauri Ylonen, I personally think this is the best song Ville has done, despite Lauri letting it down just a little. But, he makes up for it on the fast paced and uplifting Life Burns.

Other songs on this disc, like Faraway, Vol. 2 are much slower, and sound much more classical, and just shows Apocalyptica's variety. Listening to this disc is like a quick flick through the music channels on TV, each channel sounds different. You get the growling voice of Max Calavera on one song, and the forge in lyrics and great singing by Emmanuelle Monet on the same disc.

Overall.

While the second disc has less songs, the sheer variety will keep you listening more so than the first disc. If your a fan of Metallica, Slayer or general classical instrumental, preferably involving Cellos, then the first disc is for you. Rasmus fans, HIM fans, and just about everyone with ears, listen to the second disc. Guaranteed, you will find one song you will like, maybe even love. I listened to this album about a month or two ago, and within weeks, I've ordered my ticket and I'm seeing them live on December 11th, to me, they are just that good.

Apocalyptica have played with everyone. Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour), Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Joseph Duplantier (Gojira), Till Lindemman (Ramnstein). They have also supported Metallica, Ramnstein, and have recorded the Intro to Bullet for my Valentine's album, The Poison. Apocalyptica have a new album out soon, and you bet I'll be back on Loucifer Speaks, giving a review on that!
